La Casa Roja is in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, México. This town of about 80,000 inhabitants lies just about in the center of México on a plain between the Sierra Madre Mountains called El Bajío. It is approximately 170 miles north of Mexico City. Its elevation is approximately 6,400 feet which accounts for its spring like weather year round.

By Air: Three airports are within a reasonable distance from San Miguel:

León - about an hour and a half from San Miguel by car
Querétero - about an hour by car
Mexico City - about three hours and a half by car

A very reliable shuttle service is available in San Miguel called Viajes de San Miguel. They can be reached on the web at www.viajessanmiguel.com or by calling their offices in San Miguel at 52 + (415) 152 25 37. We have used this company frequently and they have never let us down.

There is also a first class bus out of the airport in Mexico City which goes to Querétero. You will then switch to the second class bus station in that city (about 100 yards away) to complete your trip to the bus station in San Miguel. From there it is a ten minute cab ride to La Casa Roja.

By car: There are two main routes to San Miguel:

The west coast route from Tucson, AZ down through Guadalajara and then over to San Miguel.
The eastern route from Laredo, TX down through San Luís Potosí to San Miguel.
