Enjoy your vacation in fully furnished rental accommodations in La Casa Roja (the Red House) in San Miguel de Allende, in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico. The house, completed in the fall of 2007, lies in the Colonia Caracol neighborhood of San Miguel. The Caracol is named for its road, which spirals up the hillside behind the town. Our house, lying on this spiral road, wraps round a beautiful private courtyard and upstairs patio. Two apartments (one upstairs and one downstairs) and a downstairs guest room are available for rent. The guest room (when available) can be added as additional bedroom to either apartment. All units are fully furnished - all you need to bring are your clothes and toiletries! Weekly maid service changes the linens and cleans all rooms.

Colonia Caracol is about a 10 minute walk to the Instituto Allende and 20 minutes to the Jardín (town center). Knowledge of Spanish is helpful although many other North Americans live in and around our friendly neighborhood. A well stocked "super mercado" is a mile away with many gourmet items, and near the house are two "tiendas" (stores) with basic food items.

The house has a water purification system with hot water heated by solar energy; a gas water heater provides backup when needed. The water system is pressurized. A secure garage under the house is also available for a vehicle. Local telephone and Vonage international phone service are provided along with cable TV and DVD/CD player.
